WALKING

On foot

Strutting into Spring on the Great Victorian Rail Trail. Horse riders can ride along the length of the GVRT. The main track is shared with walkers and cyclists, but separate horse trails are marked alongside the main trail in many places.

Water and horse yards are available at designated spots, but you may need to arrange your own water and tie-up facilities if you're planning a longer ride. Yards with water tanks and troughs have been installed along the trail. Head to the Horse Riding section our website to find out more about these locations.

Even in the depths of winter, we love visiting this historic feature of the Great Victorian Rail Trail... Cheviot Tunnel, near Yea. Magnificent in any season.

We may have hit the cold days of winter once more, but that doesn't stop us from riding our favourite parts of the Great Victorian Rail Trail. It's a great way to warm up.

We recommend the 9km easy uphill ride from Yea Station to Cheviot Tunnel, with a fun downhill roll back into Yea.

Who else loves to ride, walk or run the Great Victorian Rail Trail during winter?
