Quiet winter moments at the Great Victorian Rail Trail trailhead in Alexandra.
This tree-lined stretch of the rail trail provides a relaxed 5km ride up to the Eglinton Cutting Rail Trail Lookout, with excellent views of the Cathedral Ranges. Continuing riding for another 15kms and you’ll reach Yarck.
Also here is the former Alexandra Railway Station, which is currently the home of the Alexandra Timber Tramway Museum and Historic Park.

Rolling into another sunny winter weekend on the Great Victorian Rail Trail. One of our favourite rides at this time of year is from Yea to Cheviot Tunnel and back. Starting at the Yea`s Gothic-styled Railway Station and Skatepark precinct, this gentle uphill ride to the historic Cheviot Tunnel is an 18km return ride.
Cheviot Tunnel is Victoria`s longest rail trail tunnel. Built in 1889 out of handcrafted bricks, this engineering feat is a must-visit. Pedal through 201m of inky dark to the other side for an echoey thrill before returning downhill to Yea.
